ShortNerdCat for Android

Android 8.0 and newer. Installed from an APK file.

Install

  1. Download the APK from the download page.
  2. Allow installation from this source when Android asks.

Connect tab

  • Key entry: paste your key and tap Activate. You can also scan a QR code with the camera (Scan QR Code) or choose an image that contains the QR code (Scan from Image).
  • Login: sign in with email and password. This option is offered when the sign-in service is reachable from your network.
  • Create New Account starts sign-up.
  • Connect / Disconnect. The first connection asks for permission to create a VPN connection.

Android may ask you to exempt ShortNerdCat from battery optimization. This keeps the connection alive while the screen is off.

Apps tab

Checked apps bypass the VPN and use your normal connection. Use Select all, Deselect all, or the filter. After changing selections, reconnect.

Menu

  • Wildcat — see WildCat.
  • Disable IPv6 and Disable QUIC — checkable options.
  • Language.
  • Share Logs — see Logs and privacy.
  • Logout removes the key from this device.
